Project Description

PNR RailWorks supplemented CN’s signal division in the busy Toronto rail corridor. Support crews performed a range of S&C tasks, including installing signal bungalows, cables and switch heaters.

Project Scope

Over the past several years, PNR RailWorks has worked with CN’s signal division in the Greater Toronto area to upgrade the signal system while a third track was added to the congested rail corridor. Under CN's direction, PNR RailWorks’ Signal division upgraded the 50-year-old relay logic signal system with new electronic technology in conjunction with the track capacity improvements. The new track and signal enhancements have greatly expanded GO Transit’s commuter rail capabilities in the metro region.

Unique Features

All work was performed in a highly congested area with more than 90 train movements per day.
